It was eleven months ago when I decided to jump off from work for a week break. Traveling is a passion, requires skills (specially packing your stuff) and relentless determination. If you are into backpacking, then a lot of sacrifices are at stake in order to realize your much awaited destination to conquer. Well I guess I'm just too lucky to have friends who answered my first backpacking experience. So, I packed my things and headed to one of the most expensive place on earth, Singapore. Mindanao, a promise land. Just the name itself is enough to scare away candidate traveler to this island. Known for the bad reputation of kidnapping, arm conflict, rebels/bandits, politics and other negative things that can be associated. And I'm one of those who initially promised not to step there, not until my work pushed me further away from my comfort in Manila.
To make the story short, I found me and my luggage in my new office that served as my home for 8 months in Cotabato City, Maguindanao. For 5 months, I traveled in and out of Maguindanao province where the famous Ampatuan Massacare took place. A place where many describe it as waste and hopeless dreams for its people.
But everything had change after seeing this beautiful landscape hidden in South Cotabato. The crystal blue water that served as fishing village as well to the locals, especially the tribe whose inhabited the lake for hundreds of years ago, the T'boli.
